About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, having earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Dakota. I have been working with youth and their families for over 13 years in a variety of settings including middle and high schools, private practice, residential treatment facilities, and detention centers. In addition, I have worked abroad with youth in Brazil and Costa Rica.

I have a private practice in Boulder, Colorado, give trainings and presentations to students, staff of school districts, and parents, and host a podcast for parents of adolescents called “Perspective for Parents.” My past professional experience includes working for the St. Vrain Valley School District as a Mental Health Interventionist, and serving as lead parent facilitator for iTHRIVE, an early substance abuse intervention program for teens and their parents.

I am passionate about assisting youth and their families realizing adolescence is a time of great opportunity and not just a phase to survive.

My Philosophy

I have been working with teenagers, young adults, and families for over 13 years in a variety of settings and with a wide range of issues. My approach is client centered and holistic in that I focus on the physical, mental, social, and emotional person as a whole. My ability to create rapport quickly assists me in successfully helping youth and families who have not found conventional therapy effective. It can be difficult for young people to connect with and trust adults, especially therapists. For that reason my efforts are directed toward creating and maintaining a relationship built on empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard.

Connecting with youth requires authentic interactions in order to gain trust. When teens are more socially oriented towards their peers, it is critical that they connect with a responsible and caring adult outside of the family unit. I take great satisfaction in having the ability to form relationships with youth that will foster their development into happy and successful adults. My focus is on building strong, trusting, and supportive relationships with my clients. I create a unique therapy experience for each client that combines the roles of counselor, coach, and mentor. The people that I work with know that I will remain steadfast in my support as they navigate life’s ups and downs.
